With over 25 years working in the media industry, initially in advertising and latterly as head of design
at Maher Bird, Matthew turned his attention to cinematography in 2004, inspired by his father's love
of film and involvement in television as a producer and director.
Studying part time at the National Film School, Matthew quickly found himself shooting and directing documentaries for Channel 4, Discovery Channel, UKTV, US network Voom and a long stint across Africa with the UNFPA and Bill Gates Foundation.
In 2007 Matthew's first feature documentary for Fulwell73 and Lionsgate 'In the Hands of the Gods' opened in Leicester Square and nationwide to critical acclaim and a record number of screens for a film of that genre. Matthew has since
embraced a broad spectrum of projects, from documentary for One Direction to high-profile content for Greenpeace. Other notable spots have included the Star Wars 'Made Great in Britain' campaign for the UK government in conjunction with Lucasfilm and Disney, the Cannes Lion, Campaign digital and Webby award winning 'Keep Discovering' for Emirates airlines and the Invictus Games launch film with Daniel Craig and Tom Hardy, plus commercial work for Adidas, Barclays, Kellogg's, Landrover, Mclaren, Sony, Star Alliance and documentary for BBC and ITV.
Recent short-form narrative projects have included 'Leni, Leni' about controversial director Leni Riefenstahl and 'The Loneliest Time' for Cort Kristensen. Recent promo work has included Paloma Faith's recent 'The Crazy Ones' directed by Barnaby Southcombe, the song written by music legend Diane Warren for the film 'Miss You Already' with Drew Barrymore.
Matthew holds both UK and Canadian passports.
