Back on to project Porsche. Some projects for all sorts of reasons aren't so enjoyable, but some really hit the spot and so far, this one has been a lot of fun. Looking forward to the next installment.

Air Studios Lyndhurst Hall

Air Studios Lyndhurst Hall

I can't say I haven't been quite lucky with some of the places I've worked in over the years. Air is arguably the finest studio of its kind anywhere in the world and to be back working here again, in this amazing iconic space, is such a privilege. It has probably been well over ten years, since I was last here, filming the James Bond brass section recording some of the great Bond themes with David Arnold. This time it has been a forty piece string orchestra, but I really can't say any more than that for now...

New Glass

New Glass

Delighted to take delivery of the new Atlas Mercury 1.5x T2.2 full frame 'A set' anamorphic lenses. A really lovely mix of vintage style optics in lightweight modern housing, can't wait to get these out working. Developed by Atlas for Gareth Edwards and The Creator (apparently), the 42mm was used to shoot parts of the film to give Gareth the vintage style elements he loved from older anamorphic pictures. The Mercurys are an interesting mix of modern and vintage and with the anamorphic squeeze being 1.5x, they are perhaps a bit more flexible for use on cameras with sensors that don't have an academy aspect ratio option. Standing at the Sky’s Edge

Standing at the Sky's Edge

A real privilege to see this. Creative brilliance converges from all angles. Standing at the Sky's Edge is great story to begin with, but combine that with an incredibly emotive score written by Sheffield born Richard Hawley, lighting by the very brilliant Mark Henderson, an amazing set, not to mention the abundance of vocal and acting talent, all seamlessly and intricately woven together by director Robert Hastie, it's a phenomenal show. I'd put good money on this show cleaning up at the Oliviers this year!

Banshees of Inisherin

Banshees of Inisherin

Oct 13th '22 Bafta screening of the incredible Banshees of Inisherin, followed by Q&A with directing supremo Martin McDonagh and principal cast Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson. It's not that often you watch something with such a unique voice. It's beautifully well written, hilariously funny, with truly astounding performances and gorgeous to look at; probably best thing I've seen for a very long time and can't wait to watch it again when it's out on general release.
